Resident Evil 3 Remake Planned For 2020

    YES!

A Resident Evil 3: Nemesis remake is in the works from Capcom, according to two new reports. It will reportedly release in 2020.

Capcom released a remake of Resident Evil 2 this year, which was received warmly by fans of the franchise. Given how difficult it is to play Resident Evil 3 at the moment, fans have hoped for a remake of that game as well.

According to a YouTube Channel called Spawn Wave, a remake of that game is not only currently in development, but on track for a 2020 release. The major European games outlet Eurogamer confirmed as much with their own sources, reporting this morning that they have also heard of this project.

Capcom has also been public about its desire to re-release more Resident Evil games.

I think its fairly obvious this was always going to be possible. Capcom was very happy with the critical and fan response to RE2make, and the sales were strong enough helped by them using the same engine developed for RE7 which kept costs down on development. 3 is the only one of the main series you can't now easily play in some form on current consoles, and considering how much people seemed to enjoy the Mr. X Tyrant in RE2, a new take on the Nemesis from 3 could be amazing.

So unsurprising, post-2014 "muh male gaze" has pozzed Jill's appearance. If they don't have classic outfits then modders will come to the rescue, like they did with RE2make.

Character smearing isn't going to magically transform into a valid argument at any point.

Ah yup, let's change an established iconic character, that's had a fanbase for 20+ years, to appease pro-censorship puritans who never were going to buy the game in the first place.

I can understand Disney changing Taskmaster's skull hood to sell the Black Widow movie in China, but feminists were never going to buy Resident Evil games in droves. There's virtually no crossover between the main audience who play Match-3 games on mobile and home console/PC action games.

Jill has changed in almost every version of the game thus far, so I'm not seeing your point here Eva. They updated the look of Claire in the RE2 remake as well not to have the original version denim cutoffs and then provided them as one of the alternative costumes (same with Leon with the giant shoulder pads). And then also provided the original 1998 polygon model skins for free too. I doubt it will be any different here.

If it is more in line with covering skin, may I remind you this is the same company that made these Sheeva's alternative costumes in RE5...

...they're still a Japanese company in the end. I don't think you're going to see that change.

So? This is a remake of RE3, not a 100% new game.

This is will probably be the case, but until there's an official announcement it's a healthy attitude to be sceptical.

Both games were made prior to 2014, so they don't count. I.e. the turning point where the AAA industry started pandering hardcore to the social justice activists.

Eg before = With the Mass Effect trilogy they made Liara's cup size bigger with each successive game.
After = With Andromeda, they seemingly made all of the female characters butt ugly on purpose (but the male characters remained chiselled Adonises). Another thing is they didn't have pale skin tones in the character creator, they were only patched in later upon customer criticism. Many social justice activists are massively against white people, eg Andromeda's gameplay designer Manveer Heir.

The difference is Resident Evil is marketed heavily towards a Western audience, so they might self-censor to not catch the ire of social justice activists from the West.

So what? They provide the receipts when they make the argument.

The likes of BBC and CNN are hardly any more credible than tabloids these days anyway.

And? Again, they've changed the look of everyone. Jill in the remake has the same outfit but her looks are modelled on Julia Voth. Claire looks different in every game, and even when they've retold stories they've made changes.

But the bigger point is RE7, Remake 2 and this will all use photogrammetry as well, so they base the design on the actual actor and model clothing based on actual clothing they scan in. The Capcom Europe community manager was wearing the actual red leather jacket used for the Claire model that was imported into the game at an event early in the year, so I know this from talking to them. So basically the clothing choices are functional based on that they will actually 3D render an outfit on the actor into the modern games running on the RE Engine.

This is will probably be the case, but until there's an official announcement it's a healthy attitude to be sceptical.
No, not really. You're choosing not to because you are constantly nothing but pessimistic about everything. Considering how well the RE2make did for Capcom both critically and sales-wise, I think the chances are they'll see this as what ain't broke, don't fix. You can come back here after RE3make is out and we see if they provide the same alt outfits for this like they did for RE2.

Actually it's not. And you don't have to take my word for it, there is a RE2make wrap video series wherein one part the team entirely say they actually didn't think the Western audiences had been as important than anywhere else because its a franchise that has always sold well everywhere in the world.

In fact even in the face of accusations of racist outlook comments about the RE5 setting, they ended up still putting in the above costumes I posted for RE5, showing they don't care too much about trying to please people.

Also I used those because they were franchise relevant... but DMCV came out last year, and there are alt costumes for the female characters no different than the ones above for RE5 and 6. So your post 2014 blah blah is moot.

Simply. You're making a narrative here when there isn't one.

For everyone else, my apologies for triggering Eva. I will try not to do it again.

Its partly correct. The original expected announce was the game awards, but as the article says that has been confirmed not correct by Geoff Keighley.

However there is a PlayStation State of Play scheduled this Tuesday 6am PST, and considering the leak of info came from Sony's own storefront, it seems most likely it will appear there and was planned to do so with pre-orders going live after that screened. We will find out sometime early Wednesday our time if this is right.
