I want to be clear: our relationships in China had no influence on our decision.
Haha, does anybody actually believe this? Especially after that American University hearthstone team had zero consequences for holding up a sign supporting the hong kong protestors and encouraging the blizzard boycott during a tournament broadcast.

(They've withdrawn from the tournament given this hypocrisy).

well, there will be plenty who still believe Blizzard is their friend and buddy and not just another corporation whose sole purpose is to make money and any flag waving is solely to try make more money .

The next winner of the Blizcon costume contest has been found.

Mei in the Bee-Keeper skin, with a jar of honey labeled 'Hong Kong'. Mei the Bee-Keeper keeping Honey away from Xinnie the Pooh.

It's only a matter of time until Mei is removed as a character from Overwatch, lest Pooh bear ban Blizzard

Not outside the realm of possibility. We've already had this happen:-

Blizzcon will be fun to watch but in the end this will come to naught, Blizzard could come out and say point blank, China is going to be our largest market, we have a fiduciary obligation to satisfy our primary client, ie the Shareholders . Sorry but not sorry.

and things will rage for a bit but ultimately the vast majority of players will continue to play WoW Classic, buy Overwatch skins , buy Diablo Immortal when it comes out ( and China is the number 1 target there ) etc. The latest downloads for the COD mobile and the Nintendo Mario shows that despite the microtransactions and predatory p2win mechanics baked in , the vast majority of consumers do not care about the politics or the morality . And hell most of the mobile market is so used to such things, it is just "normal" . Add in the primary targetrs , which are the whales of the consumer base and you have an just another PR exercise for Blizzard to pretend to care.

they reduced it, and then just pretended to care and then it will fade away and then Blizzard will satisfy the flag wavers by supporting the next woke event , and the controversy will be shelved and the consumers will buy Blizzard again. It is all a PR game as most consumers do not have any real convictions or principles. End of the day Blizzard itself do not really care about any of the narrative, it only cares about the bottom line , it will support whatever virtue signal to sell more copies and it will protect its potential money base . As is most of the consumers as well, for most they are just jumping on the latest outrage train and will jump onto the next one that comes along.

Blizzard has now cancelled a Overwatch launch event they had planned for the Switch release.
The event was in New York City but has been cancelled citing safety fear from protesters as the reason.

    D3 is great.

I don't have any faith in D4 being good because of recent reports from Blizzard employees saying that it existed as a 3rd person / over the shoulder game for a while during development. And from recent reports Blizzard are still trying to screw with the genre finding other ways to deliver the game.
