For the last time, KICKSTARTER DONATIONS ARE NOT THE SAME AS PRE-ORDERS.

NOMIS. Kickstarter's are NOT pre-orders. They are directly funding the development. You fund a kickstarter because you are wanting to show the developer there is interest in their commodity. The bonus upon completion (if completed, and depending on level you sponsor) you will get a copy as a thank you. You are also aware of the risks that you might not get the bonus.

A pre-order is ordering a complete or near complete game from your retailer and getting bonus in game shit for the privilege. This fragments the content that arguably should have been included on the disc and pay walls the rest of it out. Not only that, all this does is help the retailers, not the developers.

The only times pre-orders might be acceptable is if the game is a rare collectors edition, in which case you are pre-ordering the statue or whatever, and the game is a bonus.

Or, a few days out and you are buying digitally and you are then doing it for preload purposes. BUT with the way games have launched recently, I wouldn't even do that now.

So don't confuse the two again.

Anyone following this? Backed on Kickstarter, still getting development updates - but it feels like there is no media coverage at all.

    Info here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCFg...orj_-EedFA4w5g

Don't know how to feel, seems ambitious.

The game sounds way too ambitious for an indie studio to pull off without exceptionally large financial backing.

Here's another ambitious indie MMO. They wanted to map the entire globe with drones. The game was cancelled in the end.
